PHOTOTONE SOLO
Mia Zabelka (AT) – Violin, Electric Violin, Voice, Electronic Devices, Alien Objects, Noise
Mia Zabelka's artistic practice is distinguished by a radically open, transdisciplinary approach to sound, in which she dissolves boundaries between composition, improvisation, performance, improvisation, and sound art. Drawing on elements of noise, drone, extended technique, and real-time electronic processing, Zabelka creates highly physical and immersive sonic environments.
Her work PhotoTone unfolds as a poetic and conceptual exploration of subatomic worlds. In this project, Zabelka investigates the translation of chemical, physical, and structural processes into sound, rendering phenomena normally inaccessible to human perception audible within the acoustic spectrum. Through sophisticated processes of modulation, transformation, and resonance, PhotoTone evokes the oscillation, collision, and annihilation of elementary particles, constructing a sonic narrative that bridges science fiction, technology, and artistic imagination. In performance, Mia Zabelka employs a wide range of extended violin techniques on acoustic and electric violin, combined with voice, electronic devices, custom-built setups, found objects, laptop and noise-based materials. Her live performances are characterized by intensity, immediacy, and a strong performative presence.
